Update: Integrated Texture Generator

I have replaced the external dependency with a custom-built generator. You no longer need to download or link to outside tools; the generator is now built directly into the application for a more reliable experience.

This custom engine allows you to fine-tune your results using four main settings:

  • Method:
    • Distance: The default setting. It calculates the "mathematical distance" from the edges of your shapes, creating a smooth, high-quality gradient.
    • Linear: A simpler transition that behaves like a standard cross-fade between images.
  • Interpolation Steps: This determines how many "in-between" frames the tool creates. Higher values result in a smoother gradient with fewer visible "bands" or "steps" in the final texture.
  • Blur (Spread): This softens the final image. It is useful for blending sharp edges or hiding small imperfections in the source images.
  • Contrast / Gamma: This controls the midtones of the gradient. It allows you to shift the transition area to be tighter or wider, depending on how you want the shadows to react in your 3D software.

Usage Requirements

To ensure the tool works correctly, please format your images as follows:

  • File Type: PNG only.
  • Shape: Square images work best (for example, 512x512 or 1024x1024 pixels).
  • Content: Standard 8-bit color images without transparency.

Installation: Simply extract the Face_SDF_Generator folder from the .zip file and run Generator.exe. I have included a folder named "images" with sample files so you can see how the input should look.
